At Endeavor Montessori, our upper elementary Montessori program provides a dynamic and inspiring environment where students grow academically, socially, and personally. Curriculum Focus
Our Montessori upper elementary program follows the authentic Montessori elementary curriculum, designed to support the developmental needs of this age group during the second plane of childhood development identified by Dr. Maria Montessori. At the upper elementary level, students explore advanced subjects through integrated lessons across mathematics, language, history, geography, science, and cultural studies.
Daily Routine
The daily schedule includes collaborative lessons, independent research, and long work cycles that allow students to engage deeply with their studies. Students participate in group lessons, research projects, and creative exploration across subjects such as literature, history, and science. These experiences allow students to develop responsibility, accountability, and confidence while working through challenges at their own pace.
Classroom Experience
Our upper elementary classes provide a calm and stimulating learning environment where older students collaborate in groups, conduct research, and explore big ideas. Within the classroom, students engage with carefully prepared Montessori materials, participate in discussions, and present their ideas to peers. This supportive classroom community encourages independence, empathy, and responsibility.
About Our Montessori Upper Elementary Program
The Montessori upper elementary stage represents a powerful time of intellectual and social growth. During these years, elementary children begin thinking more abstractly and exploring deeper questions about the world. Our program embraces the Montessori concept of cosmic education, a key element of the Montessori approach that helps students understand how all knowledge is interconnected. Through this philosophy, students explore subjects such as history, geography, science, culture, and the natural world while building a broader understanding of how people, ideas, and events shape our global community.
From 9 to 12 Years: Child Development Support For Every Stage
Children between the ages of nine and twelve experience a period of strong intellectual curiosity and social awareness. The Montessori upper elementary classroom supports this stage of development through advanced exploration and research.
- Language and Literature - Students deepen their understanding of language, grammar, and communication through reading, storytelling, and creative writing. Through literature studies, students explore culture, ideas, and human experience.
- Mathematics and Advanced Concepts - Through hands-on exploration and collaborative lessons, students study advanced mathematical concepts, including fractions, geometry, and early algebra. These experiences help develop logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
- Science and Nature Studies - Students investigate scientific topics including ecosystems, living things, and the natural world. These lessons encourage curiosity about nature and environmental responsibility.
- History and Geography - Through exploration of history and geography, students examine human civilization, cultural traditions, and global events that shape our world.
- Research and Project-Based Learning - Students conduct independent and group research, using books, digital resources, and collaborative projects to explore topics of interest.

More than anything I love how much my son LOVES school. After a week of starting he would gladly walk into class. He even runs to greet one of his teachers, and my son doesn’t warm up to people easily. He has grown and we are impressed with his skills everyday. Endeavor has been a great find for our family and we enjoy being apart of the community. Even teachers not in my son’s class recognize him and interact with him in the halls. Thank you everyone. 🫶🏾
